I found this battered 1884 book, 'The New Encyclopedia of Family Medicine, Our Home Physician: A Popular Guide to the Art of Presenting Health and Treating Disease' at an antique mall in Palm Springs. It was held together with string, with pages falling out, and somewhat outdated, having seen different years.

So, I decided to glue every page together and carve a Plague Doctor out of it. Gluing 120 year old paper isn't easy, but the end result is solid, almost wood like. And it carves wonderfully. Better than an 1884 surgeon that's for sure.
